Siglap 2-Rooms Flats

Build in 1962, one of the first few project built by Housing and Development Board (HDB). The 4 blocks of flats are schedule to to be demolished by the end of 2015 under HDB's Selective En Block Redevelopment Scheme (SERS). I came to snap some photo before the place disappeared into our history books. You can view the photo gallery of my journey down memory lane at the end of this post.

Old school shop house are still in operation around the neighborhood, which is rare in fast developing Singapore. Do pay a visit before they are demolished.

At the void deck of block 3, there is a colorful kindergarten, The kindergarten had nurtured  many children for more than 40 years. Are you one of them? Do you live in the area during your childhood? Share with us your thought and comments.

Blk 207, Old Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre

With the old Bedok Interchange torn down a few years back, the iconic Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre, built in ?, cannot escape its inevitable fate. It ceased operations on end October 2014, with the hawkers moving to a new premise next door.

The Hawker center serve as a eating place for not only Bedok residents but as well as resident of nearby new towns such like Tampines back in the 80s and 90s. Tampines was still in development and there is no amenities available then.

I still remembered that as a child, weekend outing to Bedok Interchange was one of the best recreation for my family. It was a weekly affair, shopping for groceries at NTUC Fairprice, followed by having meals at the hawker centre.

It is sad to see it go but at least the delicious food is still available and fortunately, I was at the hawker center at the very last day before closing.

Bedok is undergoing a major revamp, next to go will be the stadium, swimming pool and maybe the library as well with the new  integrated complex.

Below is some of the photo I took on the last day of the Hawker Centre. I hope it will serve as a reminder to the people who love the place.

Do you miss the old hawker centre. Do give us your thoughts and comments.
